what about football? Did you make any huge plays? Did you do anything bad? etc
I like the football idea, you could really run with this topic. You could describe what football means to you... have you accomplished anything significant or won any awards, did you ever break any bones or get hurt, is this something you have done for a long time? There's a lot to work with here and I think you could really write a great essay.
I also like the football idea. Maybe you could associate it with college life or the things you've done while you've been here. Play by play you could switch back and forth between the football game, and what's going on for you outside of the game (school, major, college life in general, etc.) If you get really detailed with the game and keep that intensity with your writing about off the field, i think your essay will be really fun and exciting.
You might also be able to relate a practice to something difficult you went through in life in the same manner (switching back and forth between football and the other event)
I think you could do a lot with the topic of football. It should be fun to read
Matt, I think you should throw all those ideas out the window. Do something a lot of writers do when they are stumpded-stream of consciousness. So what you can do is sit down and relax, don't think too hard and just write! Write and write and see what comes to mind. Kind of in a journal style. Then see what has the most punch and the most energy. That is what you should write about. I mean it dude, do it.
